This problem was solved by my son who turned the key on (without starting the engine) and fliping the electric clutch switch to "on". He then grasped the wireing connector that runs the electric clutch and other electric circuits such as the lights (I think). He then worked each connector wire one at a time until the clutch "clicked" several times. Next he turned off the key and disconected the faulty wire connection, cleaned it and reinserted after widening the contact clip with needle nosed pliers. When the key was turned on and off again it "clicked" every time. The engine was started and the clutch has ran flowless ever since.
