rev counter cargo 0813?

The alternator may be u/s. There is usually a single lead (not part of the multiplug connection) tapped off the alternator windings. This supplies pulses to operate the tachometer. If your alternator is u/s, the rev counter wouldn't stir.
It is probably not charging the battery either!

soon as i touched single wire coming out of alternator conection fell out rusted right though
but engine still charges ok so will leave for now

possibly works via alternator,check alternator for broken or poor wiring/connections.

Den you sound like you have electrical problems and further to your other post I would check out all the dash wiring, someone has been messing around I think. Check out all the "extra" wires which I am sure you will find. Thats the trouble with none mechanical/electrical types adding spots and the likes.
