How do I stop the headboard of my bed repeatedly banging against the wall?

How can I dampen the sound of the headboard thwacking against the thin partition wall seperating us from our neighbours? & the tenants below had complained about the tremendous racket that vibrates through to their lounge during the night, & also mentioned that plaster had fallen from their ceiling.

My daughter has a tapestry hanging behind her decorative pewter headboard. I went to home depot, got a 6’ piece of pipe insulation for under $2, and used command strips to attach it to the wall behind the tapestry/headboard. problem solved for really cheap, nothing permanent!!

What I did was, went to home depot and bought four small L brackets in the the door hinge area. And purchased a Bo of 2 1/2 inch wood screws and three toggle bolts. The wood screw were in the hopes there was a stud to secure to a d the toggle bolts in case there wasn't. This should be self explanatory bit just screws the L bracket to the edge of the board with the smaller screw that come with it and use the toggle bolts or wood screws to screw to bracket to the wall. This did it for me and I have a solid oak headboard.

Nah Nah.. we had the bookcase type headboard and still wanted it..

Cut a 2X6 to the length of the width of the headboard if the headboard comes to the floor..

Put the 2X6 between the headboard and the wall.

Also buy the Felt pad package from a store like "home depot" if it sits on the floor. Put two pad on the part of the headboard that sits on the floor.

No more banging against the wall no more headboard rocking against the floor.. about 8$ to fix.

My headboard is about 4 feet tall at it's highest point and is only attached to the bedframe near the bottom. This means there is quite a bit of play near the top. All I had to do was roll over in bed and the headboard would hit the wall. It has actually woken me up at night. I went to the hardware department in WalMart. Near the pads that you put under furniture to keep it from scratching the floor, I found somthing called "Bumpers." They are a small, hard, clear plastic half sphere with sticky stuff on the flat side. I attached three of them to the back of my headboard; one at each end and one in the middle. Problem solved! You can hardly see them and no more banging! Good luck.
