how do i change my speedo from kph to mph?

I had a imported Honda Deauville, which would have had to have been converted from kph as it only had one scale. The wire/cable/whatever running up to the speedo seemed to run through a little converter "blob" in the fairing behind the front light. Sorry that's probably not much help but it might give you a pointer for some fresh ideas.
