If it is similar to the DC07 then all you need is a torx 15 screwdriver and a few hints. First detach the handle/wand/hose and lay it on the floor. Next, remove the dirt chamber and set it aside. Then remove the one screw that is revealed on the front when you take off the dirt container. Then look at the back of the vacuum directly behind where the screw was. You should see two little plastic latches holding the front plastic part on. Use the torx screwdriver to gently push those latches horizontally toward the front of the vacuum until the part pops free. Voila!
