I purchased my 206CC a year ago which still had 8 months of warranty left. In February 2009 the passenger seat moved forward when I had to break quite hard - not very safe had someone been sat in the seat at the time. I took my car to the peugeot dealer who advised I needed new runners and it was repaired under warranty.
Thursday last week, I had to break quite hard and the passenger seat short forward so fast my bag which was on the seat was catapulted in the footwell. The seat runners failed 3 months after it had been replaced. To add insult to injury, whilst driving to work friday morning my drivers seat failed as I was breaking, luckily I was breaking gently so the seat movement was not too fast. I pulled over and tried to lock the seat into position, but it completely failed and would not lock in to place at all. My car was unsafe and undriveable!
I called out my local peugeot garage, they clamped the seat in place and took it in for repair. I need new runners. It will cost £360 + VAT for the repair for one seat.
They are expecting me to pay for the repair of the passenger seat which was only repaired 3 months ago as any warranty repairs are only covered for the length of the warranty.
My case is currently with customer care as I feel angry that seat runners should fail in a car which is only just 3 yrs old.
I am trying to gather information from other Peugeot 206 owners who have had this problem. I intend to take this issue to trading standards and possibly watchdog.
