Mend Kenwood A901 Chef Mixer Motor

Can a Kenwood Mixer be repaired?

I have an old KenwoodChef Model A901 which stated to exude smoke. Does that mean the motor has gone? Is it possible to be repaired and approx how much would it cost.

its more than likely one of the capacitors on the speed control board which is a common fault
there is a kit available on ebay with all the components
needed for about 10.00
