Renault Clio key fob not working?

hi feels like my clio key cannot be pressed to open anything. Still starts the car, but as no lock drivers side, have to get in through passenger door.

OK. I just had the same problem with My Clio MKII key fob not working and fixed it. Like a good many on this forum I replaced the CR1220 3v coin battery using this video "https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6XCiu9u8H7c". but the red light does not blink and the car still will not unlock using the plipper. What I did was remove the circuit board from the key and clean the switch on the reverse side of the card using some Maplin Switch Cleaner. It is available in a Aerosol can. You only need the smallest drop. There are gaps in the side of the switch. Gently spray the smallest amount of cleaner into the gaps on either side while operating the switch and after 30 or so operations of the switch the led starts flashing and after re assembly the door lock an unlock again. Hope this helps.

The light on my clio key fob not working,the central locking still works from the inside but the remote aint working ,already changed the battery but the light still not working ,any ideas?

Hiya I just got a Clio 2002 model my mobiliser doesn't work I got a quote for a battery £130.00 can any one help I after lock the doors by a button inside the car then lock the driver side with the key thank you xxx

My key opened the door yesterday but now l cannot lock or unlock it the red light on the key still works but willl not open the door and cannot lock the boot.
I have a 52 plate clio can anyone help.

I have just experienced the same problem with my wife's car. I found that the mciroswitch is not making contact due to corrosion and wear on the contacts. Once the key is separated as in the battery replacement process, it is easy to lift the printed circuit board (pcb) out. When the button is pressed, contact should be made across two small spots on the pcb. I cleaned the spots and added a small blob of solder to each.You need a sharp soldering iron and a pair of good specs.

My central locking wont work car starts up and everythings fine i just have to manually open car and when locking press internal lock but leave my door open and then lock with key, took my key to get new battery but said it was working fine, but if you have had a leak from aireal or interia light thats where the sensor is so dry it out looks like just having central locking in summer because it would mean keep drying it out hope this help s renault clio 1.2 16v sport

insert key turn on ignition press and
hold sentral locking buton on dash you will
hear a beep turn ignition off then start
as normal. Remember ignition on.

My son was having trouble with his car not starting, read on internet about synchronising the key. This we did:- sit in drivers seat, press central locking button in car, doors will click twice, unlock with remote key, doors will again click twice. Now starts every time. Although he has to synchronise every time, but it only takes a minute.

I've had a similar problem. My key works intermittently. The key is damaged, no question. I went to get a new one from the local renault dealer - he said that it would be about £153 (transponder plus programming and using the existing key blade). I expressed my disgust at the cost but felt that I had no option. Minutes later he came back and said that there was another option available - to have a key that started the engine, but with no central locking button - I would have to operate the central locking via the car button and lock the final door with the key. This was to cost £25. To be honest, a no brainer but I don't know why it wasn't offered to start with.

dont get caught out buying new on from renualt at stupid money if yours has stopped working and its not the battery and the red led has stopped working can be 90% sure the switch inside has bad connection on the board you need to open fob gentle pop out the circuit board and each side of the switch will need to be resolderd again its not hard to do but you will need a good soldering iron with a pointed tip, dont over heat the switch if you are not to good at this ask about for someone who is good at this type of work it will save you a fortune and you dont need to have it reprogrammed if stuck i can help do it for you hope this helps

Hi, My daughters Clio had the same problem, sometimes it would fire up and start like a button, other times it wouldn't start at all. Bought new starter motor, still same problem, bought new battery,same problem. Took car to garage got charged £35 to tell me they couldn't find any fault on their computer. Fixed problem by taking key fob apart and cutting out a piece of cardboard(off cornflakes box)and fitting it into the cavity opposite the battery side of the fob and sliding back together the fob so everything was held firm inside the fob. Hey presto no problems since. Also done the same thing on spare key, everthing has been working normally now for three weeks.Hope this helps someone before spending on car as i did.

Hi, my central locking has stopped working on my 2001 clio dynamique. The red light no longer illuminates. I have contacted the renault dealer and they say i need a new key which they will charge £130! Is there any way i can do this for cheaper? I have looked on ebay to buy another key which will just need my blade put on to it and also need programmed to my car. Does anyone have any ideas how much this could cost? Many Thanks.

hi, my clio is X reg ,was having trouble starting light was flashing sometimes start drive into town park up then would not start.auto electrics said it was crankshaft position sensor .he replaced for £62 never missed a start since. can replace yourself part about £25. hope this is a help best of luck

Hi,

If you have a faulty Clio key I provide a service to repair and check their operation. This applies to:

a) Standard ignition keys with one push button and one LED. For these, I can usually provide a next day service by recorded delivery for £15 + £2 P&P

b) Credit card style keys with two push buttons and one LED. These are 'sealed for life' and need to be cut open to be repaired and then glued back together, hence the price of £20 + £2 P&P

If your Cleo 2002 Mod. is intermittently starting. Look at the ignition key, this can be the fault.
First of all, open up the key ( which is,nt to easy )
but persistence can prevail. Check the battery or replace.
Obviously this is cheaper than the experience of paying
a garage excessive costs, So try the the mentioned.
