vauxhall corsa b ignition 1996 1.4 sport?

when i turn the key in my corsa no dash lights come on the engine turns over but wont start , I was told it could be the transponder chip, so i put in a new ignition barrel , transponder and key to match and for good measure i changed the ecu, but the problem is just the same. I was wondering if it could be the ignition switch at fault, or does anyone have any other ideas which may solve this problem.
