Refridgerator not working?

THE FOLLOWING QUESTION APPEARED ON 'HOW TO MEND IT'. MY CIRCUMSTANCES ARE SIMILAR. THE FREEZER PART WORKS BUT THE FRIDGE DOESN'T EVEN AFTER FITTING A NEW THERMOSTAT. CAN YOU PLEASE HELP?

My Child left the door of the fridge open for 2 or 3 hours, now it doesn't work. Freezer is working, but too hard. The transter fan is also working and will blow cold air up to the fridge if you leave the door of the freezer slightly open, close it again and the cold air transfer stops. I don't think there is anything wrong with the thermostat because if I put ice packs in the fridge the thermostat still works until the ice melts!
I'm at a loss, everything seems to work but it doesn't!
