vauxhall vectra 1997 petrol started missing and engine management light cam?

my vauxhall vectra 1997 petrol started missing,the engine management light came on and now wont start at all.any ideas?

mine is the same.
AA told me to hold the ignition key in the on position, the car should restart on the secondary sensor but with reduced power, should get you home!
