what if the edges to the sleeve are damaged?

WHAT if i have dmaged the edges at the front of the sleeve can u simply unscrew it from the unit and have the dc player in thgere alone

Usually the edges of the sleeve are simply bent over inside the dash, holding the thing in place. To remove it, get in there with some small pliers and straighten the lugs as best you can. The original radio usually locks into the sleeve by spring clips, and it can be removed from the sleeve by putting thin steel rods into the holes on the radio face.
