Mend Thetford Toilet Flushing Problem

Thetford toilet?

I have had a swivel thetford for 4 years and it has not been used often. The problem i now have is that the plunger for flushing doe's not work properly.the pink water only comes out slightly when the plunger is pulled up and hardly any come's out when the plunger goe's down. I took the back off recently to check the problem and found the black hose had come loose on the top but it has not made any difference?.

Just a thought....like a bike pump if you leave it for a long period the washer that causes the pressure dries out and shrinks so air passes instead of being trapped and pumped out into the tube. This could be the prob I don't know I've yet to come across it with my thetford 4 manual pump.[the old twist type pump. ie twist to flush ]
