Replacing FELT SEAL at front of drum - tips anyone? (Zanussi)?

I've got a replacement seal cos the other one is done for. Can I just slide it in from the door end, or do I need to take the drum out to do the job properly?

Any help/advice appreciated, before I go and break more things.

To fit the new front seal the drum has to be removed or at least eased backwards to enable the seal to be fitted around the duct.
