tool for locking engine?

hi nigel thanks again for ur response is it just a bolt that goes in near the starter or where i do not usually have trouble like this give me a description if poss this is that tight that it still turns engine when in gear and brakes fully on thanks again

i think that you undo the 4 bolts holding pulley on to crank sprocket,and you dont need to remove crank bolt-the correct timing pin dosent lock the crank but rests against crank web [before putting pin in turn to just before tdc then insert pin fully then turn to tdc until pin butts on web [pin can foul on crank in wrong position if you dont make sure its on tdc]

Hi Peter, the locking pin is for locking it on TDC, the manual just tells you to put it in gear apply brakes and then undo crank pulley bolts if that fails isto remove the starter and jam the ring gear. The TDC locking is under the alternator so this has to come off and then remove a plug and insert the Ford tool but you can use a M10 bolt cutdown to 47.5mm from tip to underside of bolt head, but you also have to cut a slot into the head as it goes into a recess.
