Panasonic NV SD400 VCR displays F04 and F06... repairs?

My Panasonic NV SD400 VCR just today (after not being used in months if not years) just decided to give the errors F04 and F06 when I put a tape into it. I am wondering what the problem is and if it can be fixed (preferably by myself) since i would rather not have to get a new one and I would really like to get the tape out of there without damaging it. I hit the eject button and nothing happens other than a bit of mechanical noise that sounds like a gear trying to move but not moving.
