If this is a mend it site, then why aren't there any fixes listed here instead of complaints? I have the same complaint as everyone else here, but that's not solving anything. Walmart should be boycotted for carrying the poor product.
Pictures of circuits boards etc for those who are in the know of that kind of stuff and have fixed there tv would be more helpful here than anything. I know what a circuit board is, but know nothing about electronics or diodes, etc etc. I'm sure Radio Shack or Fry's has many things that can fix these tvs. We novice electronic repair people need the know how to help us through the crisis.

i don't know if any of you is still reading this, but the problem is often the capacitors on the power supply board, they cost 1 dollar each (there's probably only 1 that went bad) and take about 5 minutes to replace... but you need a soldering iron and minimum soldering skills. you should be able to easily find someone that will do it for less than 20$. good luck

Just had that problem. Kids had jammed stuff in the VHS slot. I cleaned it out and it worked fine.

Same problem with Sylviana LCD's. Best advice from their 1800 # is: Find a repair shop but you'll probably find it's not worth the cost. Absolute junk!

i had the same problem but i just fixed mine, c i opend it up and the wires to the LCD lamps were all burnt and stuck together so i cut them out and replaced them with some wire i had laying around, some damage was done to the circuit board (minor browning around some resistors) and it worked fine emerson is IMPOSSABLE to deal with, nvr buy one. my tv was out for 5 months before i said screw it and opend it up myself

Mine died in less than a year, LM320EM82.
Did a little research, the top inverter transfomer, resistance level was to high, chilled board, resistance went to infinity.
Removed xformer, examined the wires, unit is made so poorly that the wire breaks with no force.
Units should be recalled.
Will never buy another Emerson / Funai / Sylvania product again.

I have the same problem i called for help and they were no HELP at all its just over a year old!!!!OH it makes me so so so so so MAD!!!! $700.00 down the drain!!!it turns on for 5 seconds and then turns itself off and it smelled so bad i thought my house was gonna burn down !!!!!! The emerson corp is a big joke!!!I have a tv from 1990 and it still works!!!i will never buy another tv from emerson again!!!!!

The same thing just happened to mine! I guess I'm out of luck? Is it even worth getting it looked at or should I just buy a new TV?

I don't know that particular model, but it might be the same as my Logik TV. The screen would come up for about 3 secs, I could see the menu, but it then shut down. The fault was the inverter that drives the backlight. There are 8 stages in mine, one of them was faulty, the screen tried to start up, but the inverter chip sensed something was wrong and shut the TV down. In my case it needed a new inverter transformer which didn't cost a lot, but you can sometimes get reconditioned inverters for a reasonable amount.
