Mend Diplomat Flashing Dishwasher

Three Flashing Lights on Diplomat Dishwasher?

I have a Diplomat Dishwasher in my rented acommodation. When I start the dishwasher it seems to work and then after about five minutes I hear a beep and it stops. When I open the machine the first three program lights (of five) are all flashing and the machine has stopped.
I can't see any obvious problems and was hoping someone could give me some help before I have to ring an engineer?

Many thanks

My brother's diplomat slimline dishwasher had this fault. I took the right hand side panel off and found that there was a leak from the join where the water heater and rubber pipe meet, this was flooding the base and activating the trip switch causing the fault code to come up. I removed the old pressure-fit clip on the rubber pipe and replaced it with a new jubilee clip, job done. Dishwasher is now working perfectly

Just found a Brocken wire on my wire loom from the door control panel, put a new wire in and the dishwasher is now working again.

Thanks for all the interesting comments found below on the previous comment

I'm struggling with this one...
It's a diplomat ADP8352.
3 flashing lights I've tried the sump which is bone dry I've tried bypassing the flood switch, resetting and that press the programme button four times which didn't work so I think it's for a different model to mine. I've also tried cleaning all the filters and checked the wiring for damage.

Help me please before I break it

Pulling my hair out. Tried resetting etc, my 8322 model starts but stops after a minute and bleeps, light flashes 11 times which is a FA fault, pulled the DW out and the pressure switch out but is clean and seems fine. No water leaks anywhere. Cleaned PBC board but no luck. Does this mean I need a new pressure switch? I've tried all the resseting combos but had no luck. Please help if you can.

I did the same as Stuart, basically cleaned all the water arms and filters. Poured boiling hot water into filter chamber. Then started on the R cycle, the beeps went again and there were the 3 leds on. However I could hear the water pumping away. Tried boiling water for a second time and the R cycle and all was working fine. I surmise that there was a blockage on the water outlet which the boiling water dislodged.

Thanks for the various info below/above, it pointed me in the right direction to fix it!

I have a slimline integrated dishwasher (was supplied by MFI !!) i had an issue 6 months ago which required pressing the cycle button rapidly while turning on and off which cured the first issue!

I have now just cured second issue which was the 3 red lights flashing and not working

I had to remove the skirting in front of the washer then this exposes a black rectangle insepction plate which just pops off, in the sump of the washer it had collected water over the years which it turn raised an electrical "trip" float switch which actviates the error code thus stopping the washer from working, removed all the water with a whole roll of kitchen towels! turned the power back on and rapidly press the cycle select and power button now working as before.

Dont call out an engineer to charge £35 call out etc etc have a go yourselves it only takes 5-10 mins to sort, just make sure you turn the mains power off first though!!

Good Luck

We had this problem, tried all the fixes, none worked. Our solution ? Hubby took off the skirting around the kitchen units, crawled about on the floor, swore a lot, said we need a plumber, sweated a lot, swore some more, got flat on the floor, swore a bit more, unscrewed the pipe under the sink, got sprayed, more swearing, gave up, disconnected the whole effing thing, moved it across the room and bought me a new dishwasher. This was just after he had dropped the new fridge freezer on his foot and did more swearing. I am not, for those who are thinking it, married to Frank Spencer ;o) I did however, get a brand new dishwasher out of it.

Had F4 error a few times and after a while closing the door tripped the electrics.
Followed various elements of responses and found exposed cut on earth wire where various wires go into the machine at bottom end of door.
All sealed up and fault sorted.
Thanks all

I have a problem with my diplomat adp8352.
I started out of the blue when three fault lights appeared. The 1st three in the row of 6 on the programme setting.

I have emptied the basin at the bottom, and reset the system by pressing the power button and programme button at the same time! I cannot get it back to a single setting, Also when I close the door I can hear water pumping in to the machine
but it's leaking back out from underneath, filling the drip basin and causing the fault within seconds! Can someone
please help me as I don't have enough cash for a new
dishwasher a week before Xmas!
I would really really appreciate any help!

I can agree with Trevors solution below, Tried it after my machine stopped working and was amazed it started working again. Thanks Trevor

Switch the appliance
off.

Switch it on, don't wait for any lights, as soon as you press the button for on hit the programme button 4 times within 3 seconds.

You have to be extremely fast for this.

You'll know you've done it correctly when the 1st and 5th lights come on flashing.

Press the programme button once, the 1st light will go out.

Switch off, wait 20 seconds.

Switch on.

Swich off, wait 20 seconds.

Switch on, select a programme and try the machine again.

This works and it's the only way to do it

Hi, Thank you for all of this. My tray was full of water, managed to remove it all with a sponge. However it just keeps refilling? Any ideas anyone. it goes for a little while as though it is okay and working then just starts to bleep and the tray is full again. If I remove the water again it will re-start???
Any help please as I am desperate to solve the problem.
thank you in advance

Thanks folks,
Repair man charged me £20 to sit on his tool box shaking his head. He said it was a rubbish dishwasher, very old (6yrs), anyway and he couldn't get the parts - a repair would cost £160 so it would be better to get a new machine, which he would install for £60.
I fixed it by holding the programme button down until the 4th and 5th lights lit, switched off, got up this morning and switched on, 2lights still lit but I started 3rd programme and it worked fine!!!!

When I switched it back on I had no lights, so tried pressing pr0gramme button 4 times but this didn't work. I then tried pressing the on/off button together with the programme button and it worked. Thank you

Hi guys,
If you have FA faul, it means that the bottom tray is full of water!Turn of from the socket, then you have to remove the bottom metal panel underneath the door and you will see a metal drip tray full of water! Use a sponge to mop up the water and turn your machine back on! It should be working! I have just fixed mine !!!

Thought I would post this little story as a word of warning and to give a few people a laugh in time for Christmas.

My Diplomat 8332 was installed approx 7 years ago and apart from having to replace the main circulation pump a couple of years ago has handled everything thrown at it superbly. That is until Sunday night (19 Dec 2010) when the dreaded F4 error message appeared. I checked all the obvious things like the black pressure switch (take care when removing these for inspection, there are some sharp metal edges involved) to no avail.

Finally I decided to pull the thing out of it's housing and run some water through the domestic drain pipe to make sure there were no blockages. On handling the dishwasher drain hose I realised what the problem was. part of this drain hose was lying next to a ventilation brick and water in the hose had frozen solid. Five minutes with a hot air gun and the problem was rectified, needless to say that air brick has now been sealed over (my kitchen has 3 such ventilation bricks so this one is surplus to regulations). The weather can shut down dishwashers as well as airports.

cheers guys! I have just fixed my dishwasher.

I have a Diplomat ADP8332. It had a n F4 error, Mine has a metal cover at the front that I couldnt remove so I removed the filters inside , removed all the water in the trap, just with a cloth. I found a little black filter really clogged with detergent/salt. I filled a syringe with hot water and squirted it till it was all gone.

I tried to reset using the programme selection button as described here but that didnt work. I then tried pressing the start button in quick succession. When I pressed the start button 6 times immediately after resetting the F4 code went away. But as soon as I started the machine it came back. I reset again, then switched the machine off, then on and finally it worked!

I had just started using dishwasher tablets instead of powder for the first time in 7 years when this problem appeared. I live in Scotland, I wonder if its a salt problem with these tablets? I never normally add salt to the machine.

After a large amount of wash water went down the sink it left the Diplo ADP8322 with the same fault as metioned by many before. I found the wash water in the dishwasher suggesting the sink had backed up throught the pipe work. Anyway to rectify was the same as some of the advice given previously but the difference being that this model has no black panel, but it does have a silver one that is taked off with 4 torx head screws, once removed I found water in the tray below the pump and wiring, I extracted the water then simply switched it back on, 'no button reset procedure necessary'. working once again. Superb.

I have a Diplomat dishwasher and after reading many of the messages on the subject of a failing machine I tried the repeated answers of looking at the drip tray - no water there - switching off and then on with four button presses to reset the machine - no success there either.
A local kitchen machine appliance repair shop run by John Carrol advised me to look at the wires connecting the door to the rest of the machine as they sometime become worn with the constant open and closing of the door.
Off came the door - off came the front steel panel - off came the bottom tray cover to reveal a plastic wiring tray / harness and after careful examination I found one frayed and snapped wire.
I cut it back (after switching the machine off) and spliced in a new piece of wire. All the parts then replaced without taking the machine out of it's kitchen position and then on with the power.
For some reason I also did the reset again when switching back on.
I set the machine to a hot setting and put it into action.
Well done John carrol my machine is up and running again.
Maybe this will help some of you guys out there.
Good luck

and don't forget

Can I just say to everyone who posted answer's re the "FA" fault code thank you so much, once I managed to get a suitable screwdriver to take off the front panel and moped up the water my dishwasher is again working as good as new. My Diplomat integrated ADP8352 threw the RCD on my fuse board (worked this out by deduction). Reset this and checked the dishwasher. The green power light was on but nothing else. Trying the reset hints below didn't help. Found the black plastic cover, prised it off and emptied as much of the water in there (about a pint) as I could (not a lot of room under there) and set it off again. Worked for about 15 secs then threw the RCD again. Any ideas?

We could remove the draining tray so just popped out the black panel and then used a calpol medecine syringe to take out the water - 5 minutes of syringing later the polystyrene thing had dropped in level, gave it a quick wipe out and now it seems OK - fingers crossed! I had an F4 problem with my Diplomat dishwasher. On opening up I found the base tray full of water. I cleared this out and dishwaher restarted but the tray quickly filled up again and stopped. When the mahine was running I spotted water gushing from a rubber pipe. The pipe was the outlet from the recirculating pump. Unfortunately the rubber pipe was molded on (!) so it looked like a £100 for a new motor. I found a short length of cycle inner tube fitted snugly over the original pipe and a couple of jubilee clips hold it in place. I added a couple of cable ties to support the inner tube and stop it ballooning under the pressure. It is working a treat so far...

MY Diplomat 8352 had the ussual three buttons on left and bleeping. I read your postings and removed the black panel at the front behind the kickboard.
The bottom of the dishwasher was full of water and very close to all the wiring etc
I unscrewed the two phillips screws at the front and dropped the bottom plate down catching the water in a baking tray.
Once it drained the machine fired up again. There must be some sensor to stop the machine from carrying on and potentially electrocuting the user.

Thanks for all your postings. They really helped You have no idea what that fairy liquid was doing to my hands! (lol)

October 2009
This Diplomat problem is common in most modern dishwashers. The fault code AF indicates that the overflow switch is in operation this is situated behind the base panel at the lowest part of the machine centrally in the overflow tray. It is a safety device to stop your kitchen flooding if something malfunctions the tray fills up with an inch or so of water and activates the cutout overflow switch. Most common cause is blocked filter so simply take out and clean filters, remove the 4 torque screws bottom front panel take panel off mop up water in tray this deactivates the cutout overflow switch and everything works again as simple as that DO NOT FORGET TO ISOLATE IE SWITCH OF POWER TO DISHWASHER BEFORE MOPPING OUT WATER FROM TRAY!!!! Note if it is a late model youmay have to press both buttons TOGETHER on far right to reset, DONT FORGET IF INTEGRAL YOU WILL HAVE TO REMOVE DECOR DOOR PANEL TO ACCESS TOP TWO SCREWS OF BOTTOM PANEL A WELL AS THE PLINTH DECOR PANEL. GOOD LUCK!! This is a really simple job 15 mins tops

My Diplomat integrated dishwasher starts to work, you can hear the water going in, and then it beeps 4 times and stops. When you open the door it shows E2 as an error code and there is a pool of water in the bottom.
I have emptied the water and seen 3 holes in the lowest area, one has a rubber flap over it. I have tried soaking in bleach and adding boiling water, pushing things down the holes, plastic pipes and cleaning brushes; but they don't go far. I have blown water and air down the pipes, I have tried taking the dirty water pipe off and blowing down it....But all to no avail. It keeps doing the same things again. Mine doesn't have any lights, just 3 buttons (prog. time, eco) and power. Tried the reset...no help.
Any further ideas ?

Thanks to everyone who gave answers on the FA fault code,I had this on a ADP8332 along with the light flashing 11 times.Firstly i cleaned the filter from inside the dishwasher, then after switching off at the plug i took off the kitchen kick panel and as instructed in previous posts removed the metal front cover to find the tray had water in it.I placed a roasting tray underneath ,bending the middle of the tray down to allow the water to run off,and then dried the tray with a cloth.Did not need to reset after mains had been off and programmed dishwasher as normal ,now working again.

I picked out the rubber setting button on the right of the dishwasher.
The reason I did this was that I think it had sunk over time and wasn't sending the machine messages to work or to empty etc.

Then I switched on the machine with the bottom of a biro.
So now I can get all the programmes and change them easily and the machine is not stuck on the one programme.

To perfect my repair I plan to put a tissue under the button to improve the contact and put the button back again

We had the same thing. There is a tray at the bottom of the dishwasher that is an overflow tray. Our dishwasher had a leak so the overflow tray was full of water. The dishwasher cuts out for safety if this tray is full. If you tip your dishwasher forward make sure you have a bowl underneath you may find that a lot of water flows out.

my machine a built in one kept bringing up the "FA" alarm.. after looking at this site i followed some of the advice given and found.. that the FA alarm would appear to be" flood alarm" or something like that.. when your filter gets blocked the machine can and will overflow into the tray under the machine.. there is a switch there which then stops the machine from filling and flooding your kitchen.. brilliant eh.

Hey, this page just saved me a lot of trouble!
I've a built-in Whirlpool Diplomat. It stopped working, pump would run for a few minutes then it would start beeping. I opened up the metal cover at the bottom on the front (needed to use a Torx screwdriver), and found it was full of water. Drained out the water, and it all started working again.

Do check the Sump Gasket seal on the Diplomat ADP8332. If this has been fitted incorrectly at source, then over time it will leak, hence the water at bottom of tray.

There is a God - YIPPEEEEE.

Cheers guys for the tips. 4 blips before the on light lit up and I got the first light on steady and the last light flashing. Shut the door and it sparked up (I guess it's finishing the last cycle).

Had this problem for months but managed by luck to get it working. This time however i could not sort it until i found this site.

Many thanks to all.

PS. for the record mine is a ADP8428

I am getting same problem with my integrated diplomat as everyone else. Wash stopped in middle cycle and base full of water. Prewash (shower head) light on permanently with right hand power light flashing 7 times. Can anyone suggest what problem is and how to fix. Unit has been taken out and water drained.
Thanks.

same issues as others - removed front panel at base - i used an alen key as the a star headed scres . mopped up water front base tray . it must be some anti flooding detection valve which is turning the dishwasher to fault mode .

Can someone tell me what is the the end symbol as its constantly on red - its not the salt

thanks

Thank you so much everyone. Had FA code, flashing lights and potentially high repair bill (after paying an £140 repair bill 6 months ago). Just dismantled bottom of dishwaher and mopped up the pool of water. Not sure what 'black plastic panel ' is and think i was lucky first time in resetting the buttons....but hey presto, dishwasher is working again - much to the relief of my son who had been delegated as temporary pot washer!!

Heheh. Cheers for all the responses on this topic. Had a similar problem and feared the worst when several attempts to reset didn't do anything.
Dishwasher started a cycle, beeped once after about a minute, emptied itself and then stopped, showing the three flashing lights. Reset, start again - same problem. Rinse and repeat until bored...
In the end, resetting, then restarting the cycle with the soap draw open seems to have done the trick
Without all the answers below, might have given this up as a broken dishwasher after the 10th attempt or so, so many thanks to all.

Diplomat ADP8902. Pressing the programme button 4 times just saved me a £90 callout charge plus any parts. It took me 6-7 attempts for it to work so don't give up.

Problem recurred and hitting the programme button four times didn't work. Tried six and it did work! At this rate it'll be 20 times by Xmas!

Brilliant - after reading all the entries, I managed to fix my dishwasher (hopefully I'm not tempting fate by putting it in writing, but so far so good). I have a Diplomat 8352, pushing the buttons quickly 4 times didn't work on mine, so I hunted out the black cover at the bottom of the machine (thankfully somebody mentioned to remove the plinth as I would have been looking for ages), switched off the electric, soaked the water up with towels (mind the metal work as I cut my finger on the edges), put electric back on, pressed the power button on and off 4 times (as somebody mentioned that was what they did) then I set the machine off on the rapid wash setting.
So far so good, thanks to this website (which I came across by accident) I have saved myself some money....Brilliant !!!

FANTASTIC advice on the four button manoevure! We've a built-in dishwasher with the controls on the top of the lip of the door and it's the button on the far right you have to press the four times. I was having nightmares wondering how I would get a replacment dishwasher!

Thank you!

Error message F4. After clearing an obvious blockage in the drainage syatem, dishwasher would still not re-start. Used the "press the program button 4 times" to re-set and it worked. Had to try it three or four times but it worked!. They don't tell you this in the manual, do they?

Followed the tips in regards to the four button presses in quick time. Had to give it a couple of goes, but it was good to hear it fill up and not empty straight away (also saves a few minutes on each try, rather than waiting for the cycle to properly start or not). The last combo of lights I was left with, was far left and far right, switched it off and on again and it all kicked in.
Thanks to the people and techs who take time to post. I knew the Internet would come in handy, and not just for finding a Thai bride.

Resetting

1. Make sure dishwasher is empty of water.

2. Turn off Dishwasher

3. Turn back on and within first 3 seconds press black button 4 times -

4. push door closed and let washer go through cycle

5. Go to trafford centre and spend money just saved on not having to buy new dishwasher !"£$%^&*()

i have just had the same problem and called someone out and was told the circuit motor had a slight leak heater was faulty and the PCB was faulty and making the machine fill and empty at the same time. { It had no problem until my sink blocked}. It was then I was told it would cost about 240 pounds to fix

Hello all. Our diplomat dishwasher kept stopping half way through the cycle, bleeping endlessly and flashing F4. I found this site really nice but none of the suggestions quite worked for ours, as I think it's a different model. Anyhow just in case anyone else has this, we just got some dishwasher cleaner and ran it through twice on a really hot wash, and it's done the trick! Think it was a drainage thing.

Thanks one and all.

I have an integrated diplomat dishwasher ADP 8332 which was flashing 11 times on the light and showing FA in the panel.

Unbeknownst to me the builders had lifted the exterior waste pipe to clean the drain after re-laying the path and forgot to lower the pipe back down again with the result that the dishwasher flooded.

Moved the pipe back, lots of water rushing out but dishwasher still full of water and in fault mode.

Turned power off.

Removed facia panel and kick panel from kitchen units and removed bottom steel panel from dishwasher (you'll need a special type of screwdriver or some good pliers as they're not normal screwheads) and found the bottom was full of water.

Emptied it out by bending middle of tray down into roasting tin placed underneath and gave it all a good wipe dry.

Did the reset already described by holding down the program button.

Ran through the rinse cycle, all ok.

Now happily typing this as it washes all the teatime pots!!

Happy days!!!!!

Thanks to the ideas. I have a inbuilt diplomat dishwasher. Tried the reset idea but could get it to work. Then checked behind the back plate and there was a small pool of water. soaked it up and then restarted. Bingo it works. May look into the powerball thing as that is what we have. Thanks all and power to the towel!!!

Thank goodness for the internet I've got an integrated diplomat 8352 everytime I tried to use it on closing the door there was 10bleeps and the first three lights flashed. Followed Duncans advice (2006) and located the black plastic cover at base of machine (had to remove kitchen plinth to get at it ) two soggy teatowels later I had mopped up the puddle of water in the base and now it's actually working. FAB!!!

Fantastic advice. Mopped out the water and did the reset (held right hand button down until buttons 4 & 5 are flashing), then pressed far ritght button four times quickly, shut door and it started. Need to empty it out (of water) tomorrow though as it has been doing this for three weeks now - only found this website today. Looks like it could be the anti-flood switch telling me there is something wrong

Another integrated diplomat dishwasher fixed with thanks to Dave's reset solution, error lights in positions 1,2,3 were flashing with light 5 solid. No idea what it meant, but seems to be fixed :-)

I would have been hesitant to leave a comment, but not having to register is great, well done mods

I just reset my Integrated ADP8902 integrated dishwasher following the instructions found on this page. I let the machine try to do it's rinse only program but of course all it did was pump out, let some more water in, then bleep and stop. On opening the door, all lights were lit up. Switched off, then switched on and then gave the program button 4 fairly rapid presses. Lights 1 and 5 came on flashing. Switched off, waited a few seconds then switched back on and selected the rinse only cycle which worked straight away. I only did a search online for Diplomat dishwashers because I was resigned to buying a new circuit board (about £100) thank goodness I saw this page. I wonder how many people have forked out £160 plus for supply and fitting of a new circuit board when none was needed? Thanks to all previous posters, power to the web.

I've just fixed mine following your instructions.

Dave/Mark,

I've been having similar issues to everyone else.

I turn on the washer, select program, the as soon as i close the door it starts bleeping. I then open the door and the start button flashes.

I was unable to do the reset, as i read it.
1) Turn off power (no lights)
2) Turn on power, then hit the program button 4 times quickly.

all this does, is go thru the selection of programs???

I couldn't find the black plastic cover. Mine is integrated washer. It's not on the door itself is it?

Any help would be appreciated.

thanks

My diplomat dishwasher had a similar problem but the start LED flashed six times. I tried several of the fixes on this page but non did the trick, in the end I took the waste pipe of and blew down it and then sucked (Beware of the water in the pipe), this seemed to dislodge a blockage. Tried the machine again and it now it workes fine again

Fantastic - dishwasher fixed without a 'man that can' not that I could find one! What i would add to the quick fire 4 button press is that when you turn your dishwasher on you need to hit the programme button BEFORE the lights on the program selections start to flash.

PHEW - your life savers guys (the goodbye to the marigolds).

Our Diplomat dishwasher gets part way through the wash cycle then shuts down and of the row of five lights along the top door edge, the first three flash in unison. If the power is turned off then on again to restart the machine, the last two lights flash as soon as the power switch is on.

I read several posts that suggest a system reset is required. I tried all suggested methods but none have had any good effect.

Just to help others with this 3 flashinig light symptom, it can also indicate the controller board is dead. want to know why? read on...

An engineer was called, he removed the door panel revealing the control circuit board, top left of the door just below the row of lights and associated selector button. He tested the board with a multimeter and declared the board dead, since the correct voltages were not detected.

So what could have caused the board to blow?
Before calling the engineer I removed broken glass from inside the main water pump, jamming the impeller. Since this is an induction motor the start up current can be double the normal running current, this would be enough to destroy any semiconductor controlling the motor.

I've answered my own question here but I thought this may be helpful to anyone with the same situation.

Thank you for the advice here! This is putting the internet to decent use.

I was a little worried after the wash completed and there was a pool of water lying at the bottom with no apparent reason why.

Took the water out, left it overnight (although only because it was very late when I discovered it), then ran a cycle this morning. No rebooting necessary on mine (although cannot confirm it's the same one as stated above)

When I ran it this morning, it stopped after about 5 minutes. I then started it again and it's worked fine. I can only imagine that it was running the rest of the unfinished cycle in the last wash it did before busting up.

(Just for reference)
It has the following buttons with lights above them: start, pre-wash(picture of a shower head), 55 Degrees, plates and lastly pots

To run a cycle, I select plates, and then press start

Dudes: you just rescued the skin of my hands from evil detergents!
I had the same problem with a Diplomat dishwasher (model unknown), and solved it by mopping the well, and then applied the reset procedure and must say I've never been happier to hear a complete wash cycle...

A few precision: the well is INSIDE the dishwasher, under the plastic grid...I spent some time looking outside under the machine and luckily didn't dismantle it!
Also, the reset procedure is a bit tricky and for no apparent reason it failed the first 3 attempts (wrong lights turned on) but eventually it worked.

Thanks guys! I have a Diplomat ADP 8352 (integrated) and was all bewildered when it refused to start any new programs. It just started beeping as soon as I shut the door and when I opened it the first 3 program LEDs were flashing. Removing the black service panel at the bottom front and mopping up the water under the flooding valve sorted the problem! I never managed to reset the machine though by pressing the program selector…

Had this problem with my diplomat integrated dishwasher. Followed the advice - located black plastic cover at foot of machine, removed it and moped out water in shallow well in base - and now it's working fine! Spot on. Saves me having to wait till Thursday for an engineer. Thanks for the top advice!!!!

Hello there, I was wondering if someone might be able to help. I've got a Diplomat ADP 8234 Dishwasher, but it's stopped working. Once you've selected a programme and closed the door, you can hear the pump working - though there's no longer any water left to pump out, but then the cycle stops and the machine just beeps. Inside, the light by the start programme button is flashing. Does anyone know what might be wrong, or at least how to reset this machine? I would appreciate it.

Fantastic advice from Dave - saved the day! All the lights were flashing on my slimline smeg dishwasher (found out at a friend's last night that they're the same as the diplomat after seeing hers) after the salt ran out and I couldn't reset it - the manual doesn't mention the four presses and restart trick so Dave saved me a callout fee - Cheers!

That's a shame it didn't work. I wouldn't give up on it though, I tried that way of resetting every time I went to the DW for a few days and nothing happened until one time it did reset when I wasn't expecting it all.

No luck I'm afraid!

On the use of tablets, we were using just powder up until now and then tried the tablets which seems to coincide with our problem now.

I found resetting the dishwasher was a bit hit and miss so I can't guarantee this will work. Turn the power on and then hit the program cycle button four times quite quickly. You will know if it has worked if lights one and five are on (I'm afraid I can't remember if they were flashing or constant, I think the former but wouldn't swear to it). Once you get to this posistion turn the dishwasher off and shut the door. Leave it a few seconds and when you next switch it on, hopefully it will have reset.
Let me know how you get on

Dave

we have the same problem and you mention that you have found out how to reset the dishwasher. How do you do this?

Mike
September 2005
Thanks a lot Mark, I'd scoured the net and found similar advice but there was no water in the bottom of the washer. Eventually I tracked down how to reset the machine and since doing this I haven't had any problems. I've stopped using the power tablets though which I've been told can cause the problem you described.
Any way it seems okay now so that's the main thing!

Dave
September 2005
I had the same problem this weekend, the basic instructions don't include the error codes so after about 3 hours of searching the web I found that the problem was probalbly caused by the anti-flood switch.
at the bottom of the dishwasher at the front is a black plastic cover, remove this (after switching of at the mains) have a look in the bottom of the machine, if it is filled with water simply mop it out and this should solve the problem, it did for me.
