My Toilet randomly flushes?

My toilet over the last few days has been randomly dumping water into the bowl but only in small amounts?

You need to either replace the syphon unit in the cistern or the small piece of plastic in the syphon housing. It will be either circular or oval shape. If you are going for total new unit, be sure to measure the height of the old syphon housing otherwise you will not be able to close the cistern lid.

The water level is too high in the cistern - maybe because the fill valve is allowing water in all of the time. Therefore the water flows down into the pan as it should via the flush mechanism or syphon.
