how can i open drivers side bonnet catch renault laguna?

Jack up the front of the car, with a torch and a long screwdriver or rod it is possible to operate the catch and open the bonnet, The catch can been seen from under the car without dismantling anything.
It will most likely be a broken plastic piece that the cable nipple locates on.
