How do I 'reset' a stepper motor?

I need to fit a new stepper motor (idle control valve) to my Citroen ZX 2.0 8 valve. Do I need to do anything so that the ECU can recognise that its a new one? Maybe open the throttle with the ignition on but engine not running to set/reset the valve position? It's a Magneti Marelli 8P.20 system.

before installing the new one do the following, make sure the new one has the same part number of the old one, open the driver side window and the the bonnet, turn the ignition off wait 60 sec, disconnect the battery terminal, replace the ICV, connect the battery, turn the headlight one then off, then switch the ignition ON 10 sec then OFF three times before you can turn ON your engine the fourth time .. enjoy.
