how can i fix my mp3 after its put too close to a magnet?

im sorry to contradict the other response but thats not true the hard disk in the mp3 would be gone what happens is that it erases all information on the disk including disk info so the computer dose not know what format to read it and even if you did manage to reformat it to the correct format it would not hold for long im sorry to say that is a lose and it would cost more to fix it then to buy a new one.

Sometimes the magnet just erases the hard-drive (Actually it's always I think) but you might be able to plug it into your computer and re-install the firmware. You'll need to download it from creative.com if it's available.

Eitherway, the firmware probably got erased meaning it doesn't have a program to make it function anymore. You need to download the firmware again (usually free from maker) and re-install it via your computer.

As for anything else, I'm at a loss.
