Samsung U600, faulty LCD screen?

Hey, I've got a Samsung U600 with a faulty LCD screen which is not working at all. My question is whether it's required to unsolder something inside the phone (cables) to understand that the screen is indeed faulty/broken. Is it a normal procedure? Thanks
