Mend Singer 378 Sewing Machine Needle Thread

The needle on my 'Singer 378' won't pick up my bobbin thread?

I have threaded my needle, on my Singer 'Stylist' zig-zag model 378, as instructed and am trying to get it to lift my bobbin thread, but it won't. I have the bobbin in with the thread at the bottom, the thread through the loop and then inserted underneath where the needle is.........but its not picking it up.........ahhhhhh. What am I doing wrong?

hello jillian,
try an new needle and make sure it is in the correct way round, if it still won't pick up the thread you will need to retime the machine, I can attach timing instructions if you e-mail me and remind me of your make and problem
