to remove the instrument panel is quite a large job, you have to remove the centre console first and even then when you get the panel off you will only be able to access the bulb and the rear connectors. YOU CANNOT get to the front of the instruments and any attempt to do so will fail. EVEN if you could it would not help. You have an ECU problem, quite common on these cars especially aound the 2000 year. Underneath the drivers footwell and looking up towards the steering column you will see a black coloured multi wiring connector with a red coloured underneath. Start the engine, disconnect the muti plug, by pulling down on the red coloured plate of the black muti pug. Switch off the engine, reconnect the muti plug, start the engine and the rev counter will more than likely work. However if it is an ecu fault, it will more than likely fail again. The replacement is a second maortagage job. Good luck
