hi darryl, if the solution neil put doesnt work it could well be your regulator on the inlet to your gas meter!! to solve this, simply call the gas board on 0800 111 999 and tell them u have pressure problems! they will have an engineer to you within the hour. they will do a test on your operating pressure and act accordingly! if the pressure is wrong, they should change the regulator at no cost to yourself as the gas meter and regulator is property of national grid.

Darryl. When the cooker initially lights, the small flame should heat up a thermocouple to allow the main gas valve to open up. Sometimes, if a bit of food drops into the burner, it can change the shape of the flame so it isn't hitting the thermocouple so give the burner area a good brush and vacuum. If this doesn't help, it may be possible to gently bend the thermocouple (which looks like a bit of bent metal) so that the flame can properly heat it.
