Mend Upvc Window Frame

hole in corner of upvc window frame?

Hi, have recently moved into this house. i have inherited a large circular hole, in the corner of the frame, where four tv cables had been through. my problem is that i cannot suucessfully seal the hole. I have tried using sealant, but this just wont seem to set. Any ideas, thanks.

pack the hole with damp newspaper, pack the hole so that the paper is a little bit below the hole, then fill with silicone, and scrap off with a flat piece of plastic to make a smooth finish. The paper will allow the silicone to set in position without falling into the hole.
