I sucked in a sock on mine and I put it in the upright position to pull it out. Afterwards I turned it on, finding the brush didn't spin. Took it all apart and nothing seemed to be wrong. Finally realized the brush only spins when the handle is not in the upright position. Never noticed it in the past and wasted about an hour before I figured it out :(

I called Dyson support for this issue after I cleaned out the brush etc. This sounds silly but you have to recline the vacuum and then switch between floor and carpet 8 times. I guess this is how to reset it. Anyway, restart and you're good to go. This was on the big upright DC07.

Hi, usually hair caught in the brush.
Unplug at wall, lay on floor, remove any hair etc, plug back in, (keeping fingers well clear of brush).
Otherwise the belt has either snapped or come off.
Hope this helps,
Simon
