repair a electronic power steering pump, vauxhall zafira 2001 comfort 1.6?

Have had the same problem with it. I spent to weeks and about £300 and it still had the problem with it it was doing my head in so what I done is took all the plugs off the engine pull the fuse box out wiggle the wires at the back took the big plug off the back back panel above the steering pump it's a big plug loads of Wires again to it and put it all back on and put the battery wires back on and started it and power steering works perfect so it must be a loose connection somewhere I've not had no problems ever since hope this helps

I have a 1.6 zafira 06 plate the power steering pump work but the power steering feels slightly heavier than normal. I have had a gearbox replaced recently and wonder if anything may have been disturbed all help welcom

i have a zafira 2000 model 1600 16v. i parked it up lastnight went 2 go out 2day got no steering i was told it an electric pump. i dont know where 2 start or where the fuse is can u help cheers.
the steering make a nose when u start the car like a buzz but know theres nothing no nose.

there are 4 wires to pump red for permanant feed, brown for earth,blue/white to alternator but not sure where the black one goes. i am checking mine fully this weekend so hopefully a broken wire!

AIts common for the pump to fail and if use incorrect fluid,should be green.pumps are not coded so get one from scrappers its run through ecu also.

I FIXED THE PUMP ON A 00 ZAFIRA 20 DTI...I T00K THE PUMP OUT THE TOP. HAD TO REMOVE FUEL FILTER AND BATERY BOX . BIT OF SWEARING GETTING IT OUT..TESTED THE 4 WIRERS FOR BREAKS ..BLACK WIRE WAS DEAD SO I PULLED BACK THE PLASTIC COVER AND FOUND THAT IT WAS CORODED AND BROKEN..SO I SOLDERED A NEW WIRE IN AND REFITTED THE PUMP ..AND IT WORKED RIGTH AWAY. HOPE THIS IS HELPFULL..

THERE ARE 3 TYPES IF SQUARE THEN A SEALED UNIT AND CANNOT BE OPENED, EBAY BEST BET AS NEARLY £500 FROM DEALERS,WE CHANGED ONE BEFORE AND ALSO THERE ARE SOFTWARE CONFLICTS AS THERE IS A PAS ECU TOO,FUSE 7 UNDER BONNET.
LARGE JOB HAVE DROP SUBFRAME TO GET IT OE IF GOT SMALL HANDS IS POSSIBLE REMOVE PARTS AROUND IT AND GET TO IT EITHER WAY IS HARD AND AROUND 3 HOURS WORK.
