Mend Renault Laguna 2.0RT Transmission Automatic

I have a Renault Laguna 2.0RT Automatic and the gear have started slip?

My Laguna is an automatic and today the gears have started to slip this morning. I cannot put my foot down on the gaz too much otherwise the revs go up and the auto light comes on my dash board, the car the will move but not very fast, it seems as though the clutch is slipping. Any ideas please. Thanks

clutch bands in the gearbox need adjusting, or torque converter failing ,the fluid will change from red to brown and smell burnt.
