thermostat for renault 5?

how do i change the thermostat on a renault 5 1996 model. the car is over heating but the radiator seems ok

Hi there, I've got to change a thermostat because the engine is not getting hot enough ! Do you think the thermostat hides in the water pump end of the top hose ? The new stat came with a gasket which implies some sort of housing . I may just snap off the clip and have a look in there.
