how can I fix my Kia Rio central locking?

hi i am having the opposite problem,aftewr fitting a new door handle that snapped i must have knocked the rod that connects the lock button inside the door to the lock.it might be worth taking the door panel off and checking that the rod is moving freely,my button inside dosent want to stay up so it just locks itself again,maybe yours isnt able to stay down?
