Every time I switch on my drier it triggers the trip switch for all the sockets in the house. I have checked the fuse, tried another socket cleaned it out all that stuff. Its a Hotpoint Aquarius CTD 40
This (obviously) means that your drier has a direct short circuit - this usually means that the heating element has packed in. The element price is usually around £30 but its the labour charge that puts a doubt on repair or replacement.
