dyson root cyclone..brushes won't turn?

We cleaned the brush of string and hair. Then the brush would not turn. After much fooling around we found that we only had to make sure the brushhead unit was pushed down like when you vacuum. It had pushed up while we were cleaning the brush.

Turn the Dysonon to its left side and switch the selector knob about 8 times between bare floor and carpet. This should reset it if the belt is not broken.

check the belt hasn't snapped.That is the only thing that turns the brushes
