Thank you for this answer! I was nearly ordering a new printer until I came across this suggestion. Wiped the silver bar clean and then put on some vaseline and hey presto! First Time it worked and back to normal. TY TY TY!

AMAZING!!! Cleaning the silver bar with a soft closing then lubricating with Vaseline worked! eep at it. It took several tries and adding more Vaseline as a last desperate measure!

Thanks to Marc Engineer for his post in Feb 2009. I cleaned off the silver slide rod under the ink cartridges (lots of black oil) and put on some vaseline as he suggested. After a few tries (shut off printer and restarted) all is working fine.

Marc Engineer from Feb 2009 is a genius. A little petroleum jelly did the trick for mine. Thanks Marc!

I absolutely cannot believe it, but removing the ink catridges and blowing like mad where they were and then putting them back in appears to have worked (at least for now).

I would strongly encourage anyone to seriously think twice before purchasing an Epson printer - this is the second one I owned (both given to me as gifts) and Epson has caused me nothing but major grief and problems. Try a different brand name instead.

Ok well i am having the "call for service" error wiht the E-90 error code. But i have blown in every end there is and still not working. No paper jams. I did chage the ink about 2 weeks ago but was working fine 2 days ago. I can't get to the ink because it wont sut on without sending the message andwill not let me get to it. So what can i do? thanks

We had this error. Following Marc Engineer posted February 2009 worked for us. Mainly build up along the silver slide which we removed and small pieces of paper debris that were stuck at the end of the slide. We also tightened up the lid on the ink carrier. It cleared the error and operates fine. Thanks.

Same problem. I tried the lubrication idea and it worked fine. Always has something wrong with it. Been out of the box for less than a year. I think this has been the highest maintenance printer I have ever had.

OK the E90 problem is a ink carrier error, it is usually after changing the ink, first make sure the ink lid is closed properly and clicks in to its lock if not press all the ink down it may nor be seated properly, if that doesnt work lubricat the silver slide at the back of the ink holder (the one it slides back and forth on) with a little silicon grease or BP jelly (petrolum jelly) not much just a little it may be the slide bearing has become tight this will give the same error, also check for small pieces of paper the error is the carrage is not locating properly because it is too tight, or sticking or and obstruction. Cleat it and everything should be OK

I can't believe it!! I got the E90 message after changing the ink cartridge. Had been fine prior. I pushed a few times on the closure over the ink, blew a couple of times, and voila! It works. I love this site! Thanks!

I got the E-90 error and found a guitar pick in the printer, although I'm not sure that E-90 is specific to just guitar picks but its worth checking.

I had the exact same problem with my printer... I went to the troubleshooting thing on the epson website and I tried checking that the ink was all in place but it didn't help me at all. Then I just lifted the lid and blew in it trying to get out any dust that might have been inside. Then I turned it on and it worked... so just try blowing out the dust, it may just be as simple as that.. it worked for me.

I just followed Gary's steps posted April 2008 as follows, "shut down the copy machine which I was trying to scan a document at the time and it suggested I make sure the ink cover was down tight and it didn't seem loose but it sure fixed the problem. Hope that helps."
Although once the printer is turned off you cannot move the ink cartridges I was able to push down on the area I could reach and then turned the printer back on and used the utilites to change ink cartridge which moves the entire ink tray out and applied slightly more pressure and as Gary stated, although nothing seemed loose this did the trick, no more error code and now everything seems to work fine. I printed a test page to be sure and all was OK. Haven't tried the copy feature but my wife just scanned a picture and it worked fine. Seems like a strange way to correct a problem that I cannot even figure out what caused the error but it worked and that is all that matters.

I just followed the trouble shooting guide, shut down the copy machine which I was trying to scan a document at the time and it suggested I make sure the ink cover was down tight and it didn't seem loose but it sure fixed the problem. Hope that helps.
