misting in d/glazed unit?

frames are of wood and home made(ie. more reliable than plastic) the d/glazed units are factory made. I have my own idea of solving the problem.-Remove unit, try to dispel mist by means of a hair dryer,re -seal unit all round with suitable mastic tape. Also prepared to drill through the seperator in two places to allow air in and out, then re-seal. is this a sound method?

you won't be able to repair it,it sonds like seals or molson (the silica balls inside your spacer bar) have stopped working.you will need a new unit so get a rough mesurment of the unit and ring round glaziers and double glazing repairers in your area and go for best quote.good luck with your problem.

that action wont solve the long time problem . the spacer bar between the two peices of glass has small silicone balls inside to soak up moisture if any occurs . these balls have broken down hense you will need new double glazed unit . call windowfix repair on 01702 480693

Waste of time. The whole double glazed unit should be replaced if the seal has failed. It's highly unlikely that you will be able to re-seal it to the same standard as the manufacturer (or at all). Also the space between the panes of glass may have been filled with an inert gas which will have escaped.
