Ford Mondeo 2001 floor wet on drivers side?

I have a 2001 Ford Mondeo Diesel. I have it since July 07, from day one the carpet has been damp(ish) on the drivers side just infront of the drivers seat (where your feet would rest) I notice a small amount of water gathers on the rubber seal just over this (the bottom of the door about 3 inches in from say the angle where the front of the door would go up to the bottom hinge and the bottom where the seal runs along the frame of the door) The padding inside of the door cover was saturated also. I replaced with a new one the outside window rubber between the window and the glass, but there was heavy rain the other day and the same water gathered etc on the seal, and there was a visible trail down the plastic panel down to th carpet etc. I have remo ved the bungs from the floor and left the carpet loose (put in a piece of timber to keep carpet off the wet floor for now. Anyone know where this water is actually comming in????

The water seems to come in when car is parked with the back of car at higher level than front in a down hill
for example.
what happens then is that a pool of water is trapped
below the door outside the door seal at bottom where the lower seal goes in a half circle following the curve at the lower bottom front part of doors.
A pool of water builds up there ,when the dam is high enough the seal gives in and water zips in, have checked it in rain storms and when pressure washing there.
probably a design fault,to little angel for water to run off or seal not high enough at bottom.
I will smack in silicon there to make an artificial slope so water gets a direction.

my 2001 mk3 mondeo was like this and i think the fault is caused by the expanding foam in the bulkhead.i understand that a batch had foam which did not expand as it should and water can enter here.i pulled the carpet back and poored some water over the windscreen so that it ran down the drain holes.a small trickle started to run down the metal behind the pedals.however in the rear the carpets got wet from the door seal.all in all very poor.used to have a/c on all the time to remove the damp.then that broke and i sold the car.have a bmw now and carpets dry as a bone even though its a soft top.thought wet carpets were a thing of the 70's.shame on you ford!

the wet floor could be as a result of a blocked drain pipe around the sun roof the is 2 pipes that can get blocked you need to open the sunroof and you will see 2 holes on the frunt side of the opening you need to use some electrical flex ect to unblock the pipes my one was so blocked i had to take off the housing nuder the drivers wheel and push it up from underneeth as well think this could be caused bye a smashed sun foor and the little bits of glass blocking the pipes i even used a hoover to susk out the pipes hope this helps my e mail is easysteve0hotmail.com if you need to ask me anything

This is usually from the pollen filter at the bottom of the windscreen and is due to the plastic recess where the filter sits not being properly sealed.

Strip out the filter and get some mastik in to seal all the corners and that should stop it.

Do not keep pulling out the seals of the door as the leak is from furtehr up and fwd behind the dash.

It is very frustrating and needs attention each year.

Found water leak was from the leaking pollen filter under the windscreen grill on passengers side. Try looking at http://www.mirez.co.uk/WaterProbs.htm

make sure that the membrane benind door trim panel is undamaged and fully stuck to door around sides and bottom. if not it will let water enter wrong side of seal.
