How can I fix my Hotpoint fridge freezer Multi Compartment 8890?
The fridge and freezer parts of the appliance are working very well but every now and then water seeps out of the bottom compartment and wets the carpet. Do you know why this happens? (i should think this happens once a month or thereabouts). The fridge freezer is about 10 years old.
The water is the result of the auto defrost coming on. This melts the ice build-up in the small area at the top of the freezer compartment. Normally the melt is allowed out to the outside back of the freezer from where it evaporates. I suspect that the channel to the back of the freezer is blocked. Have a look at the rear of the freezer.
