We have just fixed ours........ yey. Right, depending on the tumble dryer you need to have a look from the front or back to see which side you need to fit it. We had to take the front off ours. We could not completely remove the front panel, but we managed to do it with it half off.
You need to make sure you get the right belt.... they are cheaper online but if you can't find the correct model number you need to go to a repair shop with the old belt to make sure you get the right one.
Fitting our belt was difficult.... they are REALLY tight. You need to make sure that it is the right way round. Ours went over the drum and through a guide at the bottom so it took two of us to fit it. We had to stretch the belt a bit first (be careful not to do it too much because it will be too loose). Then it took loads of strenghth (from my boyfriend) to hook it on and fix it into the guides. Hey presto...... working dryer. This was well worth doing because it would have been cheaper to buy another dryer than get an engineer out. It cost us £15 for the new belt and took about 45 mins. We could have got the belt cheaper online but I wanted to make sure we got the right one so I got it from a shop. Good Luck!
