How can I fix my Vauxhall Astra 95 Automatic 1.4, it doesn't pass 30mph?

The engine starts allright but it stops in 45secs. I star again but this time I have to stamp on the acceleration. After 5 minutes its ready to move. Before that it doesn't. When she moves it takes a minute or two to go into the second gear. This time if I stamp on the acceleration there is noise, engine sounds like its burning the petrol. But the car doesn't move any faster. What seems to be wrong?
