i believe theres a process where you can pull the shaft out of the clutch (as you say in situ). what are the special tools. what is the process.

did u manage to change your clutch???????????? i have got an SRI an want 2 take out the clutch an put it in my cav 1800 sport. how did u do yours

Depends on the year,most can be done in situ without removing gearbox, but you will require special tools available from good car shops and a bit of mechanical knowledge,takes me only about 40 minutes if it is your first then probably about 2-3 hours.
