How can I fix my Hotpoint CTD80?

My dryer is showing f-12 and when the dryer is of u shut the door and it comes on without the display light on and when the door is shut it makes a very quick rattling noise can any1 tell me what this is

f-12 means there is a communication problem with either the circuit boards or the wiring connections are faulty.

Error code 12 normally means you need to clean out the condenser and filter.

Just got the same error message on my Hotpoint WT741, and found that switching it off and on again at the wall (not just at the control panel) allowed it to be restarted. Whether it will perform past the part of the cycle where it failed last time is as yet unknown, but so far, so good.


No idea what F - 12 means, but find that off-and-on-again seems to soothe the most tiresome electronic beasts.
