Mend Dyson DC07 Want Replace Diy

I also want to replace the motor on our Dyson DC07; can it be done as DIY?

I am OK with DIY and have striped the cleaner down to as least posssible but now need special alan key type tool to try and undo motor. Anybody with experience of this.

I heartily agree with getting Dyson to do the job, however the cost is now£65.

Having looked at several online spares suppliers, I resigned myself to spending £40+ on a motor, £12+ on a post-motor filter and the shipping.

As I'd be spending about sixty quid anyway I figured what the hey, I'll get Dyson to do it fo rthe extra fiver.

Put a request in online on Thursday, got a call Friday morning and had the visit booked for the following Monday morning.

The guy came, fitted new motor and post-motor filter.

He also fitted a new post-motor filter cover - the old one needed a good clean and I guess that was the quickest way.

He also fited a new clutch and belt assembly (Its a DC07 all floors) "cos the old one looked a bit worn"

He also fitted a new main drive belt

He's also ordered a new pre-motor filter assembly

He's also ordered a new cyclone

I've had another look at the same online supplier sites and totted up what we got. It is about £130+ worth of bits.

I reckon that's pretty good.

OK to replace Dyson motors - they are as tricky as hell but once you've done one they aren't so bad. The allen screw you talk about is actually a torx type - allen keys don't fit. Motors are awkward to fit into their rubber sleeve and connecting the electric wires can be a pain if your fingers are like bananas (like mine). Did you know that Dyson will repair any vac for £50 (minus filters) at your home? Makes sense when a motor will cost you £40 or thereabouts.
