Mend Renault Laguna Change Brake Pads

How can I change Renault Laguna brake pads?

Trying to change the rear pads of my Renault Laguna 1.9cDi 2004 model. Cant push the piston back. Any ideas how to relieve the pressure? Opening the bleed valve dosent help.

Thanks for the great tips. I had the same problem with a 2000 model Renault Secnic 4WD. I could do it manually as per John's suggestion with a pair of needle-nose pliers, but it was difficult to press down hard enough at the same time as rotating. In the end I bent a stiff 4mm wire into a 'Y' shape so the two prongs fitted into the grooves on the brake piston and the single end fitted into the power screwdriver. As the driver could power the turning action I was able to press the driver heavily into the brake poston - all fixed in one quick zap! (My tip for the next bloke!) Good luck.

Hi, i had the same problem. You need to get the correct wind back tool(laser/draper). This will push the piston back while turning the piston. also crack open the bleed nipple and clamp the brake pimp to prevent more fluid being down out.

As John said. I did mine with a pair of plier ( needle nose, pointed). Just push the ends of the pliers into the two holes and whilst applying pressure inwards turn the pliers, once moving mine turned very easily.

You need the 'special' tool available from Renault. In essence you ned to turn the piston as you apply a force to compress the cylinder. As well as removing the brake fluid cap.

I made my own tool which I would be happy to give you dimesions of etc if you PM on breastsian1969@yahoo.co.uk

Good luck with any job on a Renault!!! You'll need it!

Please don't push the piston back - it must be turned at the same time. Laser do a special tool for this but you might get away with a 'G' clamp to apply pressure while you turn the piston with some slip joint pliers. Canny does it....
