How to lay solid oak floor?

Where do I start when laying solid oak floor in kitchen and hallway, it's a straight run from front door, so need to get straight line, how do I do that please?
I understand they don't recommend laying wood in kitchen but I will chance it
Also what is the best glue to use for a floating floor
Many thanks in advance for any help you can give

Thanks for your help Rich, the kitchen has a concrete floor, the hall floorboards. Kitchen door is directly opposite street door with a run of 5mtrs in hall and kitchen length is 3.5mtrs
that's 8.5 mtr run through midde of hall and kitchen.
Do I start laying it on the chalk line and then continue either side of it I have various lengths of wood ranging from 300mm to 1200. What distance should the nails be apart ?. Any further info would be much appreciated

Thanks

You don't say if it is a concrete floor or floorboards and is the kitchen at right angles to the hallway?anyway the straight line from the door to the kitchen has to be perfect it may differ on the sides(and will)thats life, your eye follows the centre line of the floor, this is PARAMOUNT,buy a chalk line from any DIY(a metal reel full of blue chalk)find the centre of the doorway bang a nail in,hook the chalk line on it,walk back to the kitchen's furthest wall, put the chalk line on the floor pull it tight, eye it up straight and "Ping" the line on the floor,it will leave a long blue line on floor to work from,if the centre line ain't square to the passage it will look crap, the laying/gluing thing is another story,it should be nailed!
