My washing machine won't spin then a burning smell occurs. What do u think is the problem?

I think your problem John, is a burnt out motor...any smell from a motor is bad news. Washing machine motors are actually quite complex - they have to run at different speeds, they have to have the ability to reverse and they have to start under heavy load...so they are under considerable stress.
