I am probably a bit late in responding, but I have this treadmill. It seems to go through drive belts quickly, and acts as described by the OP whenever the drive belt needs to be replaced.

the motor just seems weak. I can stop the belt most speeds simply by holding the handle bars and pushing my feet into the belt. The belt is adjusted properly. The motor runs fine until you put it under a load. Then the motor itself actually stops turning. Any suggestions?

I found this on another website.....

I went to a website: www.iconservice.com/pdf/291660.pdf and downloaded the manual for the Pro Form 770 treadmill.
It gives instructions on pages 23 & 24 on how to adjust the magnet and reed switch in the motor which could be the problem. It also gives instructions on how to loosen or tighten the walking belt.
