Can I find parts for tha Lift chair motor?

We have a Lazy Boy Lift chair No. 7190-1597 Type 9081. 115 V. 60 HZ 2.2A. The small plastic worm screw on electric motor shaft is broken in the lift . The motor also has # E53469, E46205, and 03696. The motor was manufactured at Maxwell Products in Cerritos California. I do not know the exact date the chair was purchased, as we got it from another family. Thank you for you help

Had a motor gear made for my dads chair.Looks like IL597 tag on chair and a maxi safe drive with 7190-1597 stamped on motor seems to work well.3153894883

Wayne - what did the part cost you to make and will you share the name of the person that made the part for you - I have a near perfect chair and all it needs is the plastic gear.

I have a IL597 lift chair with a 7190-1597 on the motor and maxi-safe stamped in the unit housing.Chair was made 10-12-98. Had no luck finding motor worm gear. In the process of having one machined. Looks like there is a need for them.

Same problem with an 11-507 LazyBoy lift chair made on 2/2/1993 - same answer from the manufacturer "we no longer stock parts for this item". Has anyone contacted Maxwell Products in Cerritos, CA yet? No dealers seem to have parts either. Looks like there are about a dozen or so people looking for a replacement part - some enterprising machinist might just make them. Dick Weber

I also have the same problem with a Lazy Boy lift chair recliner that still looks like new. The # on chair tag is 19-924 and says "mfg. 1988. The "plastic driver part" that travels up and down the shaft driven by the motor (Maxwell Mfg.) has the bolt side pockets shattered. Got same response from Lazy Boy. My wife needs to have this working. Shame to have to burn the chair and recyle the metal.

I also have this same problem. I have the IL-597 lift chair and the worm gear attached to the motor shaft went bad. I am looking and would appreciate a post from a supplier or other ideas. Thank you.

Same thing, here. There's almost enough people with this problem to justify a production run by some enterprising machinist,,, Wish I knew one! If anyone finds replacements, please post here - I will if I do.

This sounds like an epidemic! Same problem. Nylon worm gear that is broken. Same model 01L 597. Did anyone fine the parts or just have them made?

Duh...I posted without bothering to look and see that i already posted about my efforts last year! Well, to answer your questions, he couldn't make extra parts at that time. It was too time consuming. And now that the motor's giving out anyway a year later, I'm not sure it's worth the effort to fix.

I had the same thing happen to the same motor, mfd in 1995. Your post was a year ago, which was about the time mine gave out. I had no luck finding parts, but I have a machinist friend who turned an exact replica on a metal lathe, which worked just fine! This is a guy who works for Detroit Diesel. American labor! Unfortunately now the whole motor seems to be giving out. Perhaps it's just too old.

I have the exact same problem. Please let me know if anyone has had any luck locating or making the part. I really want to get it going again. My mother has very bad knees and really depended on this chair.

Odd...I have the exact same problem. The lift chair is my Mom's, bought 19 years ago. I called La-Z-Boy, but they said they couldn't get parts for it and basically didn't want to deal with it. I could have made an appointment, but it would be two weeks and cost $75 just to look at it. So I took it to a friend who is a machinist and is going to try to make the part. (Metal, not plastic, obviously). Maybe I can get him to make some extras. This seems to be endemic.

Joan, did you find the parts? I have the same chair with the same problem. There is a small metal plate on the back of the frame that shows the model numberof the chair. It is probably IL597. It also shows the date of manufacture. The number 7190-1597 is for the controller. Let me know if you find the parts.
