Did you change the headlight bulb? Access to these is inside the engine compartment - there is a black rubber boot which covers the rear of the bulb. A black plastic connector is pressed onto the terminals (3) on the bulb. These plastic connectors often melt and this could be your problem (my theory is that if the car is left stationary for long periods with headlights on full, they over heat due to the lack of cooling airflow which you have when the car is moving!). There should certainly not be any need to remove the wing.
