HENRY HOOVER BLOCKAGE?

I have a Henry Hoover model 200. I think that there is something stuck in the pipe which I would like to know how to check and rectify. I have come to this conclusion because when I detatch the pipe/tube from the main hoover it will still suck. When the pipe is connected there is no suction at all. Ant suggestions would be appreciated...

poking the wrong end of the pipe into the hoover body & switching on worked for me ! Had to leave it for a minute or two until the stuck champagne cork popped !

Brilliant answer Mark L. Xmas Eve and a panic ensued when Henry got a blocked 'nose'. Option 1 worked - and now I know where those odd socks go to!!

Hi, I tried all of the above and more but nothing worked. I went down to the shop I bought it from and a very helpful man appeared with an item used for unblocking drains! He carefully inserted the end with a cork screw looking bit on and after several attempts he pulled a scarf out of the hose!

Brilliant! Option one worked. If you're at all interested it was a scarf blocking the tube. Thanks very much.

A few things to try...

1. Remove the blocked hose, switch the hoover on and poke the wrong end of the hose into the hoover, which effectively means the hoover sucks anything out of the hose the way it went in. This usually works.

2. Find a metal bar or a broom handle and drop it down the hose from the connection end to try and knock whatever it is out the other end. Make sure whatever you use slides easily through the hose and has no sharp edges or ends.

3. This one is a bit messy. Take the hoover hose outside, put your garden hose into it at the end that connects to the machine, and switch the garden hose on. This usually worked when I had to clear hoses on garage forecourt vacuums. The blockage often just floats out in the water. Give the hose time to dry before connecting it back up to the hoover though, so you don't get water getting into your Henry!
